Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
So on that Day no excuse of theirs will avail those who did wrong (by associating partners in worship with Allâh, and by denying the Day of Resurrection), nor will they be allowed (then) to return to seek Allâh’s Pleasure (by having Islâmic Faith with righteous deeds and by giving up polytheism, sins and crimes with repentance).

The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
57. So on that Day, the excuses of the wrongdoers will not benefit them, nor will they be asked to appease their Lord [63].
[63] The Day of Judgment will be a day of recompense for the deeds done in the world; it will not be a day for excuses or apologies. In the world, they were told to seek forgiveness from Allah for their sins, to repent and seek forgiveness, and to please and satisfy their Lord. But on that day, even this will not be said to those wrongdoers, because the time for excuses, apologies, and repentance is only in this world and up until death.
