Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
And when We let them taste mercy, they exult [40] in it; but when adversity befalls them because of what their own hands have sent forth, they fall into despair.
[40] The Narrow-mindedness and Frivolity of Man:
In this verse, the ingratitude, narrow-mindedness, and frivolity of man are mentioned. It is man's habit that when days of prosperity come upon him, he becomes excessively elated. His appearance, gait, and speech all reveal his arrogance. At that time, he neither pays heed to his Creator nor to the creation of God, and he begins to think that he alone possessed some special qualities that granted him this comfort and luxury. Then, when bad days befall him, he again resorts to ingratitude towards Allah and begins to speak words of despair regarding Allah's mercy. In contrast, the state of a believer is entirely opposite. When days of prosperity come to him, he expresses gratitude to Allah and humbles himself before Him even more than before. And when days of hardship come, he endures this period with utmost patience and perseverance, and continues to express gratitude to Allah in every circumstance.
