And among His Signs is that He shows you the lightning, for fear and for hope, and He sends down water (rain) from the sky, and therewith revives the earth after its death. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who understand.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

24. And among His signs is that He shows you lightning, inspiring fear and hope, and He sends down water from the sky by which He gives life to the earth after its death. Surely, in this are many signs for people who use their reason.

[21] Both fear and hope, or aspects of benefit, are present in lightning and rain. The thunder and flash of lightning bring the danger that it might strike and cause destruction, but at the same time, it allows one to see in the darkness. Moreover, the thunder and flash of lightning are generally signs of heavy rainfall. And as for the mercy brought by rain, no one doubts it; however, if the rain exceeds the need or takes the form of a flood, it can also cause various kinds of harm.

[22]
Signs of Allah in the Factors of Rain:

The sustenance of all creatures living on earth depends on the produce of the earth. When Allah sends down rain upon the earth and revives it, it is as if He has given life to all creatures. Now, the factors that play a role in the falling of this rain are: the evaporation from the surface of the sea due to the heat of the sun, the direction of the winds, the direction of the mountains and the presence of cold regions, and after the rain, the earth’s power of growth. In other words, the sun, the winds, water, heat, cold, and the earth’s internal power of growth—all these things work under a coordinated system, and only then do humans and other creatures obtain sustenance. Now the question is: Has any deity other than Allah established these things and the discipline among them? Or, according to the materialists, is it merely the play of matter and natural laws? If that were the case, then why is it that in a particular place, in a particular season, one year there is abundant rainfall, and the next year passes completely dry? From this verse, it is not only understood that the One who established this system of sustenance can only be a single Being, but it is also understood that He is the Absolute Wise and the Absolute Sovereign.
