Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
And among His Signs is this, that He created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them, and He has put between you affection and mercy. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who reflect.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
21. And among His signs is that He created for you spouses [18] from among yourselves so that you may find tranquility in them, and He placed between you affection and mercy. Surely in this are signs for people who reflect.
[18] Both Man and Woman Are Seekers and Sought After Each Other:
That is, from the clay figure itself, He creates its pair, which, in terms of humanity, is of the same kind. But in terms of physical structure, these are two types. Both are seekers and sought after each other. Man finds tranquility with woman, and woman finds tranquility with man. And there is such attraction placed between them that they cannot attain peace while being separated from each other. Then Allah grants some couples only sons, some only daughters, and some a mixed offspring, but never has there been a time in human history when there were so many men in the world that they could not find wives, or so many women were born and the number of men was so small in comparison that women could not find husbands.
Such a Proportion in the Birth of Men and Women That Is Necessary for the Survival of the Species:
Thus, in the creation of man and woman, Allah also keeps in view that proportion which is necessary for the survival of the species. Then, it is as a result of this very attraction between man and woman that the secret of the survival of the human race is hidden. From this, families and tribes are formed, and the foundation of civilization and society is laid. Then, such love is placed between these spouses (husband and wife) that they are ready to sacrifice themselves for each other, and both are compassionate and merciful towards the offspring that is born. To such an extent do these feelings and emotions develop between them that they strive to maintain their sacred marital bond for life. Now, just consider: if Allah had not placed these feelings and emotions between the spouses, would the population of the earth or the survival of the human race have been possible? And can any other god accomplish this task? Or is it possible that lifeless, unconscious, and blind matter, by mere coincidence, could take into account such wisdom and considerations?
