سُوْرَةُ اٰلِ عِمْرٰنَ
Surah Aal-i-Imraan (3) — Ayah 69
وَدَّت طَّآئِفَةٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَوْ يُضِلُّونَكُمْ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ ﴿69﴾

A party of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) wish to lead you astray. But they shall not lead astray anyone except themselves, and they perceive not.

Among the People of the Book are some who wish to mislead you [62], but they only mislead themselves, and they do not realize it.

The Hostile Activities of the Jews:
In these verses, the envy and hostility of the Jews towards the Muslims and some of their actions in this regard are being mentioned. Their first attempt was that, by any means possible, if they could convert some Muslims to Judaism, they would consider themselves quite successful in their objective. In this connection, they tried to mislead a few Muslims. But instead, they became infamous and were disgraced. How could your followers and devoted companions fall into the trap of the Jews? Their second attempt was to prevent the publication and dissemination among the public of those verses of the Torah in which the glad tidings of the Last Prophet were given, and in this regard, they did not refrain from any deceit, trickery, or concealment of the truth. They did not succeed in these efforts; rather, through these crimes, they further plunged themselves into misguidance.
