Lo! You are the ones who love them but they love you not, and you believe in all the Scriptures [i.e. you believe in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel), while they disbelieve in your Book, the Qur’ân]. And when they meet you, they say, "We believe." But when they are alone, they bite the tips of their fingers at you in rage. Say: "Perish in your rage. Certainly, Allâh knows what is in the breasts (all the secrets)."

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

119. Behold! You are those who love them (the Jews), but they do not love you, even though you believe in all the Scriptures [107]. When they meet you, they say, "We believe," but when they are alone, they bite their fingers in rage against you. Say, "Die in your rage!" Surely, Allah knows well what is hidden in the hearts.

[107]
Prohibition of Friendship with Disbelievers:

The current situation is that you believe in all the heavenly books, including the Torah. But the People of the Book do not believe in your Quran. This should have meant that they love you and you are hostile towards them, but here the matter is completely the opposite. What kind of upside-down logic are you following?

[108] Here, by "we believe," it either means the Jews' belief in the Torah or, to please the Muslims, hypocritically saying that "we also believe in the Quran." However, when they see your unity, mutual love, or your successive successes and achievements, they bite their fingers in anger. Because they have no power to stop you. Then Allah Almighty addressed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said that you should tell them: "Burn with rage if you wish, Allah will surely make His mission successful, and the religion of Islam will rise high as a dominant religion." And the waves of malice and enmity that arise in your hearts—Allah is fully aware of them as well.
