Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
O you who believe! Fear Allâh (by doing all that He has ordered and by abstaining from all that He has forbidden) as He should be feared. [Obey Him, be thankful to Him, and remember Him always], and die not except in a state of Islâm [as Muslims (with complete submission to Allâh)].

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should truly be feared, and do not die except in a state of submission (as Muslims) [92].
[92] This means that there should never be a moment for any Muslim when he is heedless of the fear of Allah, because no one knows the time of death, and the right of fearing Allah is that all the commands He has given and all the prohibitions He has set should be fulfilled properly and on time. Now, it is evident that while being engaged in worldly affairs, it sometimes becomes difficult to observe such caution. Thus, when this verse was revealed, the Companions ؓ became very anxious and said, "Who can possibly be so cautious?" At that time, this verse of Surah Taghabun was revealed: ﴿فَاتَّقُوااللّٰهَمَااسْتَطَعْتُمْ﴾ That is, fear Allah as much as you are able.
