And they ask you to hasten on the torment (for them): and had it not been for a term appointed, the torment would certainly have come to them. And surely, it will come upon them suddenly while they perceive not!

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

53. They ask you to hasten the punishment. And if there had not been a fixed time for it, the punishment would have already come upon them. And it will surely come upon them suddenly, while they are unaware. [85]

[85] In this verse, the punishment whose hastening is being demanded refers to the worldly punishment. And according to Allah’s law, it came on the day of the conquest of Makkah, when the disbelievers of Makkah suddenly heard of the Muslim onslaught and had no strength left to resist.
