It is out of His Mercy that He has made for you the night and the day that you may rest therein (i.e. during the night) and that you may seek of His Bounty (i.e. during the day) - and in order that you may be grateful.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
73. It is out of His mercy that He made the night and the day for you, so that you may rest (at night) and seek His bounty during the day. (If you reflect,) perhaps you will become grateful to Him.
[98] This is a special mercy of Allah that He has made the system of day and night in such a way that there are benefits upon benefits for all creatures. No living being can work continuously. Therefore, Allah made the night, which is both dark and cool, and these two things are necessary for rest or sleep. In the presence of both, a person can sleep deeply and remove the fatigue of the whole day. And for work, light was necessary, so the day was made for this purpose. Now, what should have happened is that man would show gratitude to Allah for His blessings, but with his upside-down intellect, man, instead of thanking Allah, started associating partners with Him. And he began to distribute Allah’s powers among many beings, for which he had no right.
