Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

58. Then We sent upon them a rain (of stones). How evil was that rain [56] for those who had been warned!

[56] The story of Lut ؑ and the details of the punishment upon his people have already been mentioned at several places, for example, Surah A'raf verse 83, 84, Surah Tawbah verse 70, Surah Hud verse 83, Surah Hijr verse 73. The footnotes from there may be consulted. In this Surah, the circumstances of three prophets—Sulaiman, Salih, and Lut (peace be upon them)—have been mentioned. And in their circumstances, there is always some aspect of similarity with the circumstances of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. For example, Sulaiman ؑ challenged the Queen of Sheba that if you come in obedience, it is better; otherwise, we will attack you with such an army that you will not be able to withstand. Accordingly, on the occasion of the conquest of Makkah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ brought such an army against the polytheists of Makkah that they could not withstand. The people of Salih ؑ tried to attack and kill him by launching a night attack as a mob, but Allah saved him. The Quraysh of Makkah also tried to do the same to you, but Allah Almighty saved you from their plot. The people of Lut ؑ threatened to expel him from the city, while the Quraysh of Makkah actually forced the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to leave the city of Makkah.
