Determining the Place and Time for the Contest:
Prophet Musaؑ immediately agreed to the contest of magic. The determination of the time was still pending. Musaؑ himself suggested that the contest should take place in front of a large gathering. For this, the day of their national festival or Nowruz celebration was most suitable, as people from the surrounding areas would naturally come to the capital city to participate in this national festival. In addition, the time of forenoon was proposed for the contest, so that by then all the people from the surrounding areas could reach the capital. The time was also chosen so that the sunlight would be fully bright, but the heat of the sun would not yet be intense. When the time for the contest was set, Pharaoh asked his courtiers in such a manner as if his happiness lay in having as many people as possible participate in this gathering.
