Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

And when you strike, you strike as tyrants [83].

Building Monuments is the Way of the People of ‘Ad and a Futile Act:

Allah Almighty has mentioned three actions of this nation, the first two of which are related to architecture. The first is that these people used to build many monuments which had no practical benefit. Someone had a magnificent tomb built as his memorial, someone built a tall tower, and someone constructed a pavilion. Just as there are the pyramids of Egypt, or the mausoleum of the Taj Mahal, and similar other monuments are also found nowadays, and the only purpose behind them was fame or ostentation. Some people have taken the meaning of “ta‘bathūn” as mere play and amusement, i.e., they would climb such tall buildings to fly pigeons or hunt birds, etc. The second noteworthy thing is that they also built their residential houses very tall, grand, and strong; erecting sky-high buildings was their favorite pastime. Some commentators say that this was also their necessity. Their heights were very tall and their lifespans were also very long, and if they used ordinary materials in their buildings, that material would not last with them during their lifetime. In such a case, every person might need to build a house several times in his life. The Quran has strongly condemned this habit of theirs, from which it is understood that they were extremely excessive in making their houses strong and tall, and they thought that they would live in these splendid houses forever. When this nation was destroyed by the punishment of Allah, even their strong buildings turned into ruins, and today even those ruins have vanished. Their prosperity, magnificent buildings, and physical strength and energy had made them extremely arrogant. Justice and gentleness had disappeared from their nature. They were very bold and daring in usurping the rights of others. They also oppressed the weak and poor classes of their own society, and their attitude towards the surrounding areas was also tyrannical and oppressive.
