61. Blessed is He who has placed constellations [77] in the sky and placed therein a lamp (the sun) and a shining moon [78].
[77] For the explanation of the twelve constellations in the sky, please refer to the footnote of Surah Al-Hijr, verse 16. [78] The Difference Between the Light of the Moon and the Sun and Other Benefits:
During the day, the sun is the greatest natural source of light, and at night, it is the moon. There is a great difference between the light of these two. The light of the sun contains heat and warmth, and it is tinged with redness, and when its rays fall on the front membrane of the human eye, it causes severe discomfort. Whereas the light of the moon contains a pleasing coolness, and a person feels inclined to keep looking at it. Even the very thought of moonlight brings joy to everyone. Furthermore, we do not only obtain light from these two celestial bodies, but also many other benefits. The ripening of crops depends on the sun. Many types of harmful germs and insects die due to sunlight. A certain amount of sunlight is also extremely necessary for the life and health of every living being. When the moon is full of light, during this period, juice is produced rapidly in fruits. In short, mankind obtains countless benefits from these celestial bodies.
