Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
49. But if the truth is in their favor, they come to him in full submission [77].
[77] Turning Away from the Word of Allah and His Messenger is Hypocrisy:
The meaning of "dh'an" is to become extremely obedient and to follow along or to act upon signals. And the meaning of this verse is that the hypocrites only turn away from Allah and His call or from going to Him when they know that they are suppressing someone else's right, and if they go to the Messenger, he will certainly decide according to the truth. Therefore, going to him will cause them harm. But when they know that they are on the right or that their right will be taken from the other side, then they follow along without any hesitation and with utmost obedience. The reason for this is also the same: they know that this Messenger will only decide according to the truth. Such people, in reality, do not follow the Messenger but follow their own benefit. It has already been mentioned in the footnote of verse 43 of Surah Al-Ma'idah that there was a dispute between a hypocrite and a Jew, in which the Jew was on the right. And he wanted to take his case to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, while the hypocrite wanted to take the case to the Jewish leader Ka'b bin Ashraf. The details of this case can be seen in the aforementioned footnote. It is said that this verse was also revealed in connection with this incident.
One Who Acts Only on the Pleasing Aspects of Shariah is Also a Hypocrite:
From this verse, it is clearly understood that the person who happily acts upon the beneficial aspects of Shariah, but turns away from those matters which go against his desires, wishes, or interests, is not a believer. Rather, he is a hypocrite and is false in his claim of faith. Because, in reality, he is a follower of his own desires, not of Shariah.
