Surah Al-Muminoon (23) — Ayah 41

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ بِٱلْحَقِّ فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ غُثَآءً ۚ فَبُعْدًا لِّلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ﴿41﴾
So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry) overtook them in truth (with justice), and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zâlimûn (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh, disobedient to His Messengers).
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ fa-akhadhathumu So seized them
ٱلصَّيْحَةُ l-ṣayḥatu the awful cry
بِٱلْحَقِّ bil-ḥaqi in truth
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ fajaʿalnāhum and We made them
غُثَآءًۭ ۚ ghuthāan (as) rubbish of dead leaves
فَبُعْدًۭا fabuʿ'dan So away
لِّلْقَوْمِ lil'qawmi with the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ l-ẓālimīna the wrongdoers

41. So the mighty blast seized them in truth [44], and We made them as rubbish, like dried-up stalks [45]. So away with the wrongdoing people!

[44] That is, the punishment came upon them exactly at the time that had been appointed for them. Here, due to the punishment of a dreadful scream, some scholars have inferred that this story is not about the first people of ‘Ad, because they were punished with a fierce and intensely cold wind. Rather, this story is about the second ‘Ad, that is, the people of Thamud. ﴿والله اعلم بالصواب﴾
In this verse, another meaning of "bil-haqq" (in truth) could be that the punishment we gave them was exactly in accordance with the recompense for their sins. This was what justice and fairness demanded, and in this matter, not the slightest injustice was done to them.
[45] "Ghutha" means rubbish, trash, debris, or refuse. That is, they were swept away in the current of Our punishment just as a flood carries away debris and refuse.
