Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
And whoever invokes (or worships), besides Allâh, any other ilâh (god), of whom he has no proof; then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Surely! Al-Kâfirûn (the disbelievers in Allâh and in the Oneness of Allâh, polytheists, pagans, idolaters) will not be successful.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
117. And whoever calls upon another god along with Allah, for which he has no proof [109], then his account is with his Lord. Surely, such disbelievers will never succeed.
[109] There Is No Rational or Scriptural Evidence for Calling Upon Others Besides Allah:
That is, those people who, along with Allah, call upon others and thus commit shirk, and have considered them as their fulfiller of needs and remover of difficulties, have neither any rational evidence nor any scriptural proof for this justification. The basis of such fabricated stories is merely conjecture and assumption, and then, due to blind following of their forefathers, these beliefs become widespread among people. Allah Almighty will take full account from such polytheists, and each will be punished according to the extent of their crime. And such stubborn and deniers, who do not desist even after being advised, can never succeed in the Hereafter.
