The Prophets · Meccan · Juz 17 · Page 324

And if any of them should say: "Verily, I am an ilâh (a god) besides Him (Allâh)," such a one We should recompense with Hell. Thus We recompense the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers).
۞ وَمَن waman And whoever
يَقُلْ yaqul says
مِنْهُمْ min'hum of them
إِنِّىٓ innī Indeed, I am
إِلَـٰهٌۭ ilāhun a god
مِّن min besides Him
دُونِهِۦ dūnihi besides Him
فَذَٰلِكَ fadhālika Then that
نَجْزِيهِ najzīhi We will recompense
جَهَنَّمَ ۚ jahannama (with) Hell
كَذَٰلِكَ kadhālika Thus
نَجْزِى najzī We recompense
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ l-ẓālimīna the wrongdoers

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

29. And whoever among them says, "I am a god besides Allah [24]," We will punish him with Hell. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.

[24] Despite all these matters, if, hypothetically, any person claims divinity for himself—as many rebellious humans like Pharaoh and Nimrod have done—then this is their slander against Allah Almighty, and they are doubly and triply guilty. We shall throw these wrongdoers into Hell, and according to their crimes, we shall give them the appropriate punishment.
