And when there came to them (the Jews), a Book (this Qur’ân) from Allâh confirming what is with them [the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)], although aforetime they had invoked Allâh (for coming of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) in order to gain victory over those who disbelieved, then when there came to them that which they had recognised, they disbelieved in it. So let the Curse of Allâh be on the disbelievers.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

89. And when there came to them a Book from Allah confirming what was with them—and before this, they used to pray for victory over the disbelievers—yet when there came to them what they recognized, they denied it [105]. So the curse of Allah is upon the disbelievers.

[105]
The Jews Seeking Help Through the Coming Prophet:

That is, before the advent of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, these very Jews, when they were defeated by the Arab tribes—whom they considered illiterate and uncivilized out of contempt—would often pray to Allah, saying: O Allah! Send forth Your promised Prophet of the Last Age so that we may, together with him, gain victory over these disbelievers. Then, when that promised Prophet came, and they recognized him fully according to the signs mentioned in the Book of Allah (the Torah), they denied him. And in reality, these are the true disbelievers upon whom is Allah's curse. And those whom they used to call unlettered and uncivilized were the very ones who, based on what they had heard from the Jews themselves, were the first to believe in the Prophet of the Last Age ﷺ.
