Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

223. Your wives are your fields [298], so approach your fields as you wish. But provide for your future [299] (good deeds for your future), and fear Allah, and know that you will meet Him. And (O Prophet,) give the believers the good news (of success).

[298] Two types of hadiths have been narrated regarding the occasion of revelation of this verse. One is that the Jews used to say that if a person approaches his wife from behind, the child will be cross-eyed (in refutation of this notion) this verse was revealed. [بخاري، كتاب التفسير زير آيت مذكوره- مسلم، كتاب النكاح، باب جواز جماعه امراته فى قبلها من قدامها و من ورائها من غير تعرض للدبر] The second is that Umarؓ came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "I am ruined." He ﷺ asked: "What has ruined you?" He said: "Today I turned my mount." The Prophet ﷺ did not reply until this verse was revealed (then he ﷺ said): "Have intercourse from the front or from behind, but do not do so in the anus or during menstruation." [ترمذي، ابواب التفسير، زير آيت مذكوره] Thus, in this verse, by likening the wife to a field, it has been made clear that the sperm, which is like a seed, should only be placed in the front (vagina). No matter in which manner it is placed—lying down, sitting, or from behind—it must be placed in the vagina, and it should be done with the intention of obtaining produce, i.e., children.

[299]
The Purpose of Intercourse:

That is, do this for the sake of children and to preserve your lineage, so that after you depart from this world, there will be those present in your place to carry out the work of religion. And the second meaning is that you should properly raise your children, teach them knowledge, make them religious, improve their character, and in return, hope for reward from Allah Almighty in the Hereafter.
