Ask the Children of Israel how many clear Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) We gave them. And whoever changes Allâh’s Favour after it had come to him, [e.g. renounces the Religion of Allâh (Islâm) and accepts Kufr (disbelief)] then surely, Allâh is Severe in punishment.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

211. Ask the Children of Israel how many clear signs [279] We gave them. But whoever changes Allah’s favor after it has come to him, then surely Allah is severe in punishment.

[279]
The Punishment for Ingratitude of Blessings:

And if it is a matter of clear proofs and signs, then ask the Children of Israel: did We give Musa ؑ only a few miracles? So, did all of them believe? And even if they did, did they have complete faith? And how long did they remain steadfast upon it? Then, when these people did not value Allah’s blessings, Allah punished them severely. The Children of Israel were told to be asked because this nation existed close to the time of the Muslims and still exists. So, O Muslims! If you also do not value Allah’s blessings, then your fate could be the same.
