Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
Do they then wait for anything other than that Allâh should come to them in the shadows of the clouds and the angels? (Then) the case would be already judged. And to Allâh return all matters (for decision).

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
210. Are they waiting for anything except that Allah should come to them in the shadows of clouds, along with the angels [278], and the matter be settled? And to Allah all matters will be returned.
[278] That is, they are waiting for such a sign that would give them absolute and definitive certainty about everything—certainty like every person has that death will surely come to him. So, it should be well understood that when such a sign appears, then believing will have no value or worth. The value and worth of faith is only as long as matters of the unseen remain hidden from the outward senses, even though there are countless proofs for them. It is in this very matter that mankind is being tested, and this world has been made a place of trial, and this is the will of Allah Almighty. And when a definitive sign appears, such as the sun rising from the west, or the time of death, or the Day of Judgment arrives, then this matter will be finished. Moreover, let alone the coming of Allah, even seeing Him was something that a great, resolute prophet like Musa ؑ could not bear. Then what are these poor souls in comparison? And as for the angels, they do come to humans, but either they bring Allah’s punishment or the message of death, so what benefit could these things bring to them?
