Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
154. And do not say of those who are killed in the way of Allah that they are dead. [194] Rather, they are alive, but you do not perceive [194.1] the nature of their life.
[194] Because the word “death” and its concept have a discouraging effect on the human mind, and there is a fear that the spirit of striving in the way of Allah (jihad fi sabilillah) among people may cool down. Therefore, it has been forbidden to call the martyrs dead. Besides, it is an established fact that the death of a martyr becomes the cause of the nation’s life, and the martyr actually attains eternal life, and from this, the spirit of bravery is also kept alive. [194۔ 1] The Life of the Martyrs:
It is mentioned in authentic ahadith that the Prophet ﷺ said, “The souls of the martyrs are in the bodies of green birds, and for them, there are lanterns hanging from the Throne. These souls roam freely in Paradise wherever they wish, and then return to those lanterns.” [مسلم، كتاب الامارة باب فى بيان ان ارواح الشهداء فى الجنة وانهم احياء عند ربهم يرزقون نيز ديكهئے: 3: 129]
