133. Were you present [165] when death approached Jacob? When he said to his sons, "What will you worship after me?" They replied, "We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham, Ishmael, and Isaac—the One God, and to Him we submit."

The Accusation of the Jews Against Yaqub (Jacob):

Once, the Jews said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: "Do you not know that Yaqub (peace be upon him) advised us to remain Jews?" At that time, this verse was revealed, and Allah Almighty asked the Jews of Madinah: "When Yaqub (peace be upon him) was near death, were you present then, that you say with such certainty that Yaqub advised Judaism?" Then, Allah Himself described what Yaqub asked his sons at the time of his death and what his sons replied, thereby refuting the claim of the Jews.
