Neither those who disbelieve among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) nor Al-Mushrikûn (the idolaters, polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh, pagans, etc.) like that there should be sent down unto you any good from your Lord. But Allâh chooses for His Mercy whom He wills. And Allâh is the Owner of Great Bounty.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

Those who disbelieve, whether they are from the People of the Book or the polytheists, none of them wish that any good [124] should be sent down to you from your Lord. But Allah chooses for His mercy whom He wills, and Allah is the Possessor of great bounty.

The Alliance of Jews and Polytheists Against the Muslims:

The real grievance of the Jews was that the Prophet of the Last Age ﷺ was not sent among them. You ﷺ were born from the descendants of Ismail and among a people whom the Jews considered much inferior and insignificant compared to themselves. The polytheists, on the other hand, were troubled because you ﷺ called purely to the worship of one Allah, which directly affected them, their deities, their forefathers, and their leadership. Therefore, both the Jews and the polytheists were severe enemies of the Prophet of Islam, Islam, and the Muslims. How could they ever tolerate anything good for the Muslims? Here, by goodness and mercy, what is especially meant are those divine commands that were being revealed to the Muslims. Thus, both these groups would unite against the Muslims.
