Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
Then, there has succeeded them a posterity who have given up As-Salât (the prayers) [i.e. made their Salât (prayers) to be lost, either by not offering them or by not offering them perfectly or by not offering them in their proper fixed times] and have followed lusts. So they will be thrown in Hell.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
59. But after them came successors who neglected prayer and followed their desires. So they will soon face the consequence [55, 55.1] of their deviation.
[55] The Importance of Salah and Connection with Allah:
Among the pillars of Islam, the most important pillar is Salah. Through it, a Muslim’s connection with Allah remains established. If Salah is abandoned, it means that a person’s connection with Allah has been severed. That is why the Prophet ﷺ said that whoever deliberately abandons Salah has become a disbeliever, and for this reason, the command to perform Salah regularly has been repeatedly emphasized in the Book and Sunnah. Even a sick person is not exempted from Salah, nor during travel, nor in various conditions on the battlefield. The Shariah has given concessions according to circumstances, but Salah cannot be abandoned under any condition. Wasting the prayers does not only mean abandoning them altogether, but also includes not performing Salah in congregation, not performing it on time, performing it lazily and without heart, pecking through it quickly without thought, etc.—all these things fall under the category of wasting Salah. [55۔ 1]
The Meaning of “Ghayy”:
The inevitable result of severing the connection with Allah is that a person becomes a follower and slave of his desires, and this is exactly what Satan wants. For such a person, the paths of misguidance keep opening up, and some people have translated it as: soon these people will be cast into “Ghayy.” In a hadith, it is mentioned that “Ghayy” is a valley or ravine in Hell in which the blood and pus of the inhabitants of Hell will flow, and adulterers, alcoholics, usurers, and those who torment their parents will be thrown into it. Thus, those who waste their prayers will also be thrown into this valley.
