Surah Maryam (19) — Ayah 45

يَـٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يَمَسَّكَ عَذَابٌ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ فَتَكُونَ لِلشَّيْطَـٰنِ وَلِيًّا ﴿45﴾
"O my father! Verily I fear lest a torment from the Most Gracious (Allâh) should overtake you, so that you become a companion of Shaitân (Satan) (in the Hell-fire)." [Tafsir Al-Qurtubî]
يَـٰٓأَبَتِ yāabati O my father
إِنِّىٓ innī Indeed, I
أَخَافُ akhāfu [I] fear
أَن an that
يَمَسَّكَ yamassaka will touch you
عَذَابٌۭ ʿadhābun a punishment
مِّنَ mina from
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ l-raḥmāni the Most Gracious
فَتَكُونَ fatakūna so you would be
لِلشَّيْطَـٰنِ lilshayṭāni to the Shaitaan
وَلِيًّۭا waliyyan a friend

45. O my father! Indeed, I fear that a punishment [42] from Allah the Exalted may touch you, and you would become a companion of Satan."

[42] Whether or not you receive any physical punishment from Allah, you will certainly receive this: if you continue to obey Satan, you will never attain guidance. Then you will become a companion of Satan forever.
