And nothing prevents men from believing, (now) when the guidance (the Qur’ân) has come to them, and from asking Forgiveness of their Lord, except that the ways of the ancients be repeated with them (i.e. their destruction decreed by Allâh), or the torment be brought to them face to face?

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

55. And what is there to prevent people, when guidance has come to them, from believing and seeking forgiveness from their Lord, except that they await the fate of those who came before them, or that the punishment [53] should come upon them face to face?

[53] That is, as far as providing proofs is concerned, We have left no stone unturned, and for a seeker of guidance, these proofs are more than sufficient. But these people are not the kind who will come to the right path merely through proofs. Now, all that remains is for them to await the punishment. These stubborn ones will only be set straight after receiving a severe beating. At that time, they will indeed come to know the reality, but then it will be of no benefit to them.
