The Cave · Meccan · Juz 15 · Page 297

And say: "The truth is from your Lord." Then whosoever wills, let him believe; and whosoever wills, let him disbelieve. Verily, We have prepared for the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers.), a Fire whose walls will be surrounding them (disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh). And if they ask for help (relief, water), they will be granted water like boiling oil, that will scald their faces. Terrible is the drink, and an evil Murtafaq (dwelling, resting place.)!

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

And say, "The truth is from your Lord: so whoever wills—let him believe, and whoever wills—let him disbelieve [30]." Indeed, We have prepared for the wrongdoers a Fire whose walls [31] will surround them. And if they call for relief, they will be relieved with water like molten brass [32], which will scald their faces. How dreadful is that drink, and how evil is that resting place!

[30] That is, the truth (Quran) that has come from Allah Almighty—whoever wishes to accept it must accept it in its entirety, otherwise let him not accept it. However, whoever does not accept it should understand that from now on, the fire of Hell has been prepared for him.
[31] The meaning of "saraadiq" is the walls of a tent; here it refers to the enclosure of Hell. This enclosure or boundary will be made around Hell so that the heat of the fire for the inhabitants of Hell increases even more, and so that the heat does not escape outside, and also so that those outside remain safe from this heat.
[32] The meaning of ﴿مهل﴾ is copper or any metal in a molten state, or the dregs of oil, or lava which, due to intense heat inside the earth, takes the form of a mixture of molten metals. This is because, fundamentally, it contains two qualities: one, being reddish in color, and two, extreme heat. The water that will be given to the inhabitants of Hell to drink will possess both of these qualities.
