That is their recompense, because they denied Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and said: "When we are bones and fragments, shall we really be raised up as a new creation?"

[116] Man Does Not Reflect on Astonishing Ordinary Matters and Denies Things That Are Yet to Occur:
It is man's habit that no matter how astonishing a thing may be, when it becomes a habit, he stops reflecting on it. For example, the most astonishing thing is his own body, which is constantly working like an automatic machine. From the moment he was born, his heart has been beating and will continue to beat until the moment of his death. There is not a single moment of pause, and when there is a pause, death will occur. Similarly, his lungs, stomach, liver, kidneys—all are performing their functions in such a way that he has no awareness of what is happening inside him. When he eats food, a machine for making blood is installed within him, which automatically starts converting it into blood, and whatever waste remains, his nature itself compels him to relieve himself. And this very blood is the support of his life. Then, from the mixture of this food, milk is also produced in the female. Then, the system of man's upbringing, his sight, his hearing, his sleep, the system in which new particles are produced in place of the worn-out particles during sleep—these are all such astonishing feats of Allah Almighty. But man has never bothered to reflect on them. On the other hand, his condition is such that if he is told about any astonishing thing that will happen in the future, he immediately denies it and starts calling the one who says it insane. For example, in the era of the Prophet ﷺ, if someone had said that a time would come when one person would be at one end of the world and another at the other end, and they would communicate with each other, surely such a person would have been called insane. Or similarly, if someone had said that a vehicle would be invented that would carry thousands of maunds of weight and fly swiftly in the air, everyone would have denied such a thing. But today, when the telephone and airplane have been invented and have become part of man's habit, now he has started accepting them. But even now, if any astonishing thing is said about the future, he immediately denies it. The matter of being resurrected is exactly like this. Whereas, if he were to reflect only on the internal structure of his own body, or even on the structure of the body of the smallest animal, he would realize that the Creator who is capable of making such astonishing machinery is also able to gather its particles and, by breathing a soul into it, raise it up again.
