Surah Al-Israa (17) — Ayah 104

وَقُلْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ لِبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱسْكُنُوا۟ ٱلْأَرْضَ فَإِذَا جَآءَ وَعْدُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ جِئْنَا بِكُمْ لَفِيفًا ﴿104﴾
And We said to the Children of Israel after him: "Dwell in the land, then, when the final and the last promise comes near [i.e. the Day of Resurrection or the descent of Christ [‘Îsâ (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) عليهما السلام on the earth], We shall bring you altogether as mixed crowd (gathered out of various nations). وَقُلْنَا waqul'nā And We said
مِنۢ min after him
بَعْدِهِۦ baʿdihi after him
لِبَنِىٓ libanī to the Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ is'rāīla to the Children of Israel
ٱسْكُنُوا۟ us'kunū Dwell
ٱلْأَرْضَ l-arḍa (in) the land
فَإِذَا fa-idhā then when
جَآءَ jāa comes
وَعْدُ waʿdu (the) promise
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ l-ākhirati (of) the Hereafter
جِئْنَا ji'nā We will bring
بِكُمْ bikum you
لَفِيفًۭا lafīfan (as) a mixed crowd

After that, We said to the Children of Israel, "Settle in this land [123]. Then, when the time of the Hereafter's promise comes, We will bring you all together."

The Similarity Between the Deeds and Fate of the Disbelievers of Makkah and Pharaoh:

Although Musa ؑ was commanded to take the Children of Israel and conquer the region of Shaam and settle there, and after some time this did happen, this verse indicates that after the destruction of Pharaoh and his people, some among the Children of Israel also took control of the region of Egypt. The purpose of briefly mentioning this incident here is to show that the disbelievers of Makkah were oppressing the Muslims in the same way that the people of Pharaoh oppressed the Children of Israel, but in the end, the people of Pharaoh were destroyed and the Children of Israel took control of the land. And now, since these people have also resolved to wipe out every trace of Islam for the sake of their own honor and prestige, they will meet the same fate as the people of Pharaoh. This is the punishment they will receive in this world, and in the Hereafter as well, such people will not be able to escape Our punishment. We will gather all of them together and present them before Us, and then We will give them the full recompense for their deeds.
