Look not with your eyes ambitiously at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them (the disbelievers), nor grieve over them. And lower your wings for the believers (be courteous to the fellow-believers).

So do not even look towards the worldly goods We have provided to different groups among them [48], nor grieve over them, and be humble and kind to the believers.
[48] Comparison of the Economic Condition of Muslims and the Quraysh:
When We have bestowed upon you the great blessing of the Noble Quran, then you should not pay attention to the unstable and perishable blessings given to the disbelievers. When this guidance was given to youﷺ and the noble companionsؓ, the situation at that time was such that, due to the responsibilities of prophethood, you had also left the occupation of trade, and the wealth of Sayyidah Khadijahؓ was also depleting. And due to the social boycott by the Quraysh of Makkah, the few young companions who were engaged in business or other work had also left those occupations. In any case, some companions were slaves and some were freed slaves. In short, this was a period of severe hardship for the Muslims. On the other hand, the Quraysh of Makkah were quite wealthy. They engaged in trade and lived in luxury. In such circumstances, these instructions were being given to the Muslims as a means of consolation.
