Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
So leave with your family during a part of the night, and you follow behind them, and let none of you look back. And go [33] where you are commanded."
[33] The center of your preaching was the city of Sodom. And this punishment came upon this city and its surrounding areas. Their region was located between Iraq and Palestine, where today is East Jordan. From here, you were commanded to migrate towards Syria. Here, it seems necessary to clarify that in Surah Hud, the sequence of the incident is that when the angels came to Sayyiduna Lutؑ, the miscreants and thugs of the people immediately reached Sayyiduna Lutؑ’s house. And you became concerned about protecting your guests from these thugs. Until you said, "If only I had the strength to defend them or could take refuge in some strong support." At that moment, the angels introduced themselves and reassured you that there was no need to worry. And here, the sequence is that the punishment is mentioned first and the remaining details come later. The reason for this is that, due to the continuity and relevance of the subject here, the punishment is mentioned first, otherwise the actual sequence of the incident is the same as mentioned earlier in Surah Hud.
