ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَحِبُّونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا عَلَى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍۭ بَعِيدٍ ﴿3﴾
Those who prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter, and hinder (men) from the Path of Allâh (i.e. Islâm) and seek crookedness therein - they are far astray.
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna Those who
يَسْتَحِبُّونَ yastaḥibbūna love more
ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ l-ḥayata the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا l-dun'yā (of) the world
عَلَى ʿalā than
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ l-ākhirati the Hereafter
وَيَصُدُّونَ wayaṣuddūna and hinder
عَن ʿan from
سَبِيلِ sabīli (the) Path
ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (of) Allah
وَيَبْغُونَهَا wayabghūnahā and seek in it
عِوَجًا ۚ ʿiwajan crookedness
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ulāika those

بَعِيدٍۢ baʿīdin (are) far astray

According to the Quran, Who Are the Disbelievers?

That is, those whose entire efforts are devoted to worldly interests and their attainment, and they have no concern for the Hereafter. They are ready to sacrifice the successes and prosperity of the Hereafter for the sake of this world, but they are not willing to bear any loss in this world for the sake of attaining salvation and success in the Hereafter. Furthermore, they also strive to entice others towards these worldly interests so that they do not come to the path of Allah, or they create obstacles in the way of those who walk on the path of truth, and subject them to their oppression and excesses, or they try to derive paths of misguidance from this very Quran. Such disbelievers will have to face a destructive punishment—both in this world and in the Hereafter.

Forms of Deviation in the Path of Allah:

This address is general for everyone, whether disbelievers or Muslims. To create deviation means that the command of the religion is accepted only if it aligns with one's own desires, and if it does not, then it is either abandoned, denied, or interpreted in such a way that Allah's command is molded according to one's own wishes. Generally, there are only two reasons for adopting this deviation: one is following one's own desires, and the other is being overawed by the ideologies of the present age. And those afflicted with this disease are more often the evil scholars than the common people. Such people often reach the extreme of misguidance from where their return becomes impossible.
