Whether We show you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) part of what We have promised them or cause you to die, your duty is only to convey (the Message) and on Us is the reckoning.

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

40. (O Prophet!) Whether We show you part of what We have promised them of punishment, or We cause you to die (before that), your duty is only to convey (the message), and the reckoning [52] is Ours.

Punishment for the Disbelievers of Makkah Both During Your Lifetime and After:

In this verse as well, there is a response to the demand of the disbelievers that if you are truthful, why has the punishment not come upon us yet, or why does it not come? Allah has replied that your responsibility is only to invite to the religion and to convey its message; you should continue doing this work. Dealing with these deniers is Allah’s task, and the punishment they are demanding will certainly come upon them. Some part of this punishment you will witness in your own lifetime, and some part will be given to them after your life, and in this way, their demand will also be fulfilled. Then, the punishments that these deniers received during your lifetime are mentioned clearly in the Quran and Hadith, and those that befell them after your life are mentioned in the Hadith, reports, and history.
