And those who disbelieved say: "Why is not a sign sent down to him (Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) from his Lord?" Say: "Verily, Allâh sends astray whom He wills and guides unto Himself those who turn to Him in repentance."

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
27. The disbelievers say, "Why has no sign been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "Allah (even after showing signs) lets go astray whom He wills and guides to Himself those who turn [36] to Him."
[36] Guidance and Misguidance from the Same Sign:
The same objection of the deniers of the truth has already been mentioned in verse 7 of this Surah, where it was answered from one perspective, and here it is answered from another perspective, which is that people with different mindsets derive different results from the same thing. For example, whether it is the Quran, its verses, the signs of Allah scattered throughout the universe, or sensory miracles—those who seek guidance obtain guidance from these things, and their faith increases. But stubborn people deny these very things. Then these same things become a cause for the increase of their denial, enmity, stubbornness, and misguidance. Therefore, even if their demand is fulfilled, nothing will be achieved except a further increase in their misguidance.
