Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran — Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani
Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
28. Then when her husband (the Aziz of Egypt) saw Yusuf’s shirt and found it torn from the back, he said (to his wife): This is one of your women’s tricks [28]. Indeed, your tricks are great (and dangerous).
[28] The Trial of Women:
When the shirt of Sayyiduna Yusuf ؑ was seen, it was torn from the front. The Aziz of Egypt realized that the real culprit was his wife and that her statement was merely deceit. But due to his and his family's reputation, he did not hold his wife accountable, lest the matter spread. He only said that this statement of hers was a trick and a great slander against Yusuf ؑ, and that the tricks of you women are very misleading. You are doubly guilty towards Yusuf ؑ: first, you incited him to immorality, and second, you accused him. Therefore, now seek forgiveness from him. Some commentators believe that in this verse, ﴿اِنَّكَيْدَكُنَّعَظِيْمٌ﴾ is not the statement of the Aziz of Egypt but rather the command of Allah Almighty. Thus, it is narrated from a certain elder that he used to say: I fear women more than I fear Satan, because when Allah Almighty mentioned Satan, He said that the plot of Satan is weak. [4: 76] And when He mentioned women, He said that your plot is very great. And the following hadith also indicates the same meaning. Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid ؓ says that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "I have not left any trial more severe for men after me than women." [بخاري، كتاب النكاح، باب مايتقي من شؤم المراة] Similarly, ﴿وَاسْتَغْفِرِيْلِذَنْبِكِ﴾ can also mean: seek forgiveness from Yusuf for your sin, and it can also mean: seek forgiveness from Allah for your sin.
