And most of them believe not in Allâh except that they attribute partners unto Him [i.e. they are Mushrikûn i.e. polytheists. See Verse 6: 121].

Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

106. And most of them do not believe in Allah except that [101] they also associate others with Him.

[101]
The Majority of the Religious Class Has Always Been Polytheist:

Although there has always existed a group in this world that denies the existence of Allah Almighty and considers the existence and system of this universe to be merely the result of coincidences, the majority has always believed that the Creator and Owner of this universe is Allah Almighty and He alone is running its affairs. Then, even within this religious class, there is a small group that does not associate anyone with Allah Almighty in His divinity and attributes, and this very group is, in reality, on the straight path. Even within this religious class, the majority has always consisted of people who acknowledge Allah as the Creator and Owner.

The Talbiyah of the Polytheists of Makkah:

Along with this, they also associate others with Him, and this matter is not limited to the polytheists of Makkah alone, but the same has been happening before them and continues to this day. The real belief of the polytheists of Makkah is clearly evident from the talbiyah which they used to proclaim at the time of donning the ihram for Hajj and Umrah: «ليبك لا شريك لك الا شريكا هولك تملكه وماملك» [مسلم، كتاب الحج، باب التلبية]
That is, "O Allah! I am present, You have no partner except the one whom You have given authority; he himself possesses no authority." This very belief is the greatest foundation of polytheism, and it exists today just as it did among the polytheists of Makkah or even before them. Even today, people strongly believe in the powers of the friends of Allah and say that these powers and authorities have been granted to them by Allah Himself. In response to this, Allah Almighty has said: Can you show from any revealed book that Allah has delegated such and such powers to such and such people?
