Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

3. And from the evil of darkness [4] when it settles.

Most Crimes Are Committed in the Darkness of Night:

﴿غَاسِقٍ﴾ ﴿غسق﴾ means the darkness after the disappearance of twilight. In this sense, ﴿غاسق﴾ refers to the early part of the night when it begins to get dark, and ﴿وقب﴾ is used for a pit in a rock or similar place, and ﴿وَقَبَ﴾ means to disappear by entering into a pit, and ﴿وَقَبَ الظَّلاَمُ﴾ means such darkness prevails that things become hidden within it. The reason for seeking refuge from the evil of the dark night is that most sinful acts are committed in the darkness of night. Criminals involved in theft, robbery, looting, adultery, etc., usually commit such acts in the darkness of night. And among the Arab tribes, it was customary that when a tribe wanted to raid another, they would complete their journey during the night, and as soon as the light of morning appeared, they would begin their plundering.
