سُوْرَةُ هُوْدٍ
Surah Hud (11) — Ayah 89
وَيَـٰقَوْمِ لَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شِقَاقِىٓ أَن يُصِيبَكُم مِّثْلُ مَآ أَصَابَ قَوْمَ نُوحٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ هُودٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ صَـٰلِحٍ ۚ وَمَا قَوْمُ لُوطٍ مِّنكُم بِبَعِيدٍ ﴿89﴾

"And O my people! Let not my Shiqâq cause you to suffer the fate similar to that of the people of Nûh (Noah) or of Hûd or of Sâlih, and the people of Lût (Lot) are not far off from you!

89. "And O my people! Let not your opposition to me lead you to a fate similar to what befell the people of Nuh, or the people of Hud, or the people of Salih. And the people of Lut are not far from you."
[101] From this verse, it is understood that these dialogues between Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) and his people took place at different times. They were not happening in a calm environment; rather, his people had become obstinate in their opposition to him. That is, such stubbornness in which a person begins to take even the correct words of the addressee in the opposite sense. That is why he said to them: Do not, in your agitation and provocation against me, become even more deeply immersed in polytheism and dishonest business practices than before, to the extent that you reach a state where you become deserving of the divine punishment that befell your predecessor nations. Among them, the destroyed region of the people of Lot (peace be upon him) is not far from you; you can see it at any time, and not much time has passed since then either, and your elders can also recount to you the circumstances of that nation.
