سُوْرَةُ هُوْدٍ
Surah Hud (11) — Ayah 65
فَعَقَرُوهَا فَقَالَ تَمَتَّعُوا۟ فِى دَارِكُمْ ثَلَـٰثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ وَعْدٌ غَيْرُ مَكْذُوبٍ ﴿65﴾
Translation by Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan & Dr. Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali
But they killed her. So he said: "Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days. This is a promise (i.e. a threat) that will not be belied."

65. But they hamstrung her [77], so Salih said, "Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days only. This is a promise that will not be proven false."

Killing of the She-Camel:
But this nation could not remain firm on its unanimous decision. In reality, this she-camel became a source of calamity for them, and due to the fear of punishment, no one dared to touch her. Eventually, a strong and wretched man from the nation stood up who resolved to kill the she-camel. Then he secretly consulted each individual of the town regarding this matter and sought their opinions. The majority gave the opinion that if they could get rid of this calamity, it would be a matter of great happiness. After this decision, that wretched man cut the tendons of the she-camel’s leg. The she-camel let out a tremendous, heart-rending scream and disappeared into the same mountain from which she had come out. Her calf also disappeared after her. Immediately after this incident, secret consultations began to take place to kill Sayyiduna Salihؑ himself.
Punishment After Three Days:
It is Allah’s law that if any nation demands a specific miracle from a prophet and that miracle is granted to them, yet the nation still chooses the path of rebellion, then surely the punishment of Allah descends upon them. Accordingly, Salihؑ, as informed by revelation, warned his people that now they were given only three days’ respite; after that, Allah’s wrath would descend upon them, from which they would not be able to escape, nor could there be any change or alteration in this promise.
