There is No Room for Any Kind of Flexibility or Tolerance Regarding Shirk:
This is the clear-cut decision which has been conveyed not only to the disbelievers of Makkah, nor only to the disbelievers of the whole world, but also to the Muslims in explicit words: let the polytheists keep their deities, but Muslims can never accept this at any cost. In the matter of shirk, Islam has not tolerated any kind of flexibility or tolerance, whether these polytheists are disbelievers or even call themselves Muslims. Because, despite believing in Allah, the majority of people are still polytheists, as stated in Surah Yusuf, verse number 106: ﴿وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ اَكْثَرُهُمْ باللّٰهِ اِلَّا وَهُمْ مُّشْرِكُوْنَ﴾
