Verily, those who hope not for their meeting with Us, but are pleased and satisfied with the life of the present world, and those who are heedless of Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.),

7. As for those who do not expect to meet Us, and are content and satisfied with the life of this world [12], and those who are heedless of Our signs,
[12] The Absence of Faith in the Hereafter Changes Moral Values:
That is, those people who do not even bother to reflect on the aforementioned verses of Allah Almighty, nor do they feel the need to do so, and remain content with the life of this world, spending their entire lives engrossed in worldly affairs—how can such people ever have certainty in the life of the Hereafter? And since Allah has granted man the power of discernment, intellect, and the ability to choose and act, therefore, those who do not use their intellect and remain absorbed in the world, doing everything solely for worldly interests, will inevitably receive the recompense for this heedlessness in the form of Hell. From this verse, it becomes clear that only those people can perform righteous deeds who believe in the concept of accountability before Allah on the Day of Judgment. In other words, faith in the Hereafter is the very foundation upon which the structure of a righteous way of life can be built. If this foundation is weak or nonexistent, then there is no power that can protect a person from going astray. In such a case, the only criterion for a person's good morals or deeds remains that only those actions are good which benefit himself, his nation, or his society in this world; for others, the values of their morals and deeds are entirely different.
