And those who have earned evil deeds, the recompense of an evil deed is the like thereof, and humiliating disgrace will cover them (their faces). No defender will they have from Allâh. Tafsir Taiseer ul-Quran (Facilitation of the Quran) is a comprehensive Quran commentary by Maulana Abdul Rahman Kilani, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar from Pakistan. Known for his eloquent and accessible writing style, Kilani authored this tafsir with a focus on clarity — making Quranic meanings understandable to the common reader. The tafsir provides detailed historical context for verses related to battles and expeditions, and firmly refutes modernist ideologies using strong scriptural evidence. It is widely regarded as an invaluable resource for understanding the Quran and countering deviant interpretations. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

27. But those who have done evil deeds will be recompensed with the like of what they have done. Humiliation will cover them, and they will have no protector against Allah. Their faces will be covered with darkness, as if veils of the dark [40] night had fallen over them. These are the inhabitants of the Fire; they will abide therein forever.

[40] Even in this world, when a criminal is caught or loses hope of release, darkness and humiliation cover his face. And since these people will be habitual criminals and there will be no way for their salvation, such darkness will cover their faces as if a portion of the dark night has been cast upon them.
