فَهَلْ يَنتَظِرُونَ إِلَّا مِثْلَ أَيَّامِ ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوْا۟ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ قُلْ فَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ إِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُنتَظِرِينَ ﴿102﴾
Then do they wait for (anything) save for (a destruction) like that of the days of the men who passed away before them? Say: "Wait then, I am (too) with you among those who wait."
فَهَلْ fahal Then do
يَنتَظِرُونَ yantaẓirūna they wait
إِلَّا illā except
مِثْلَ mith'la like
أَيَّامِ ayyāmi the days
ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna (of) those who
خَلَوْا۟ khalaw passed away
مِن min before them
قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ qablihim before them
قُلْ qul Say
فَٱنتَظِرُوٓا۟ fa-intaẓirū Then wait
إِنِّى innī indeed, I (am)
مَعَكُم maʿakum with you
مِّنَ mina among
ٱلْمُنتَظِرِينَ l-muntaẓirīna the ones who wait

102. Are they waiting for anything except the days (of punishment) like those that came to those before them? Say: “Then wait; I too am waiting with you [110].”

[110] Such people are not willing to believe until they see their own death before them in the form of punishment. Taking a lesson from the fate of previous nations is out of the question for them, because they seek material explanations even for such outcomes. Therefore, trying to make such people understand also proves futile. The only appropriate response for such people is: “You too wait, and I also wait,” until Allah Himself creates such a situation for decision between us and you, by which everyone will know who among the two parties is upon the truth and who is upon falsehood. And such a decision usually comes in the form of divine punishment upon the deniers of the truth.
