Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
It is narrated from Anas bin Malik and Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) considered Surah Az-Zalzalah to be equal to half of the Qur'an, but Shaykh Nasiruddin Al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) declared these narrations to be Munkar and weak. Here, {’’زِلْزَالٌ‘‘} is a verbal noun in the passive sense, meaning to be shaken violently. By this is meant the tremendous earthquake that will come with the second blowing of the trumpet, because with the second blowing the dead will rise from their graves. It is said: «ثُمَّنُفِخَفِيْهِاُخْرٰىفَاِذَاهُمْقِيَامٌيَّنْظُرُوْنَ »[ الزمر : ۶۸ ] "Then it will be blown into it a second time, and suddenly they will be standing, looking on." {’’ زِلْزَالَهَا ‘‘} (its earthquake) means that the earth will be shaken with the kind of tremendous earthquake that is required to shake it violently.
