Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah57) {لَوْيَجِدُوْنَمَلْجَاً …:’’ مَلْجَاً ‘‘ ’’لَجَِأَيَلْجَأُ} (F, S) is a noun of place (ism zarf), a place of refuge. {’’ مَغٰرٰتٍ ‘‘ ’’مَغَارَةٌ‘‘} is the plural. {’’غَوْرٌ‘‘} refers to a deep place, a cave in a mountain or the earth. {’’ مُدَّخَلًا ‘‘ ’’دَخَلَ‘‘ } is a noun of place (zarf) from the form ifti‘āl, and with the addition of letters, the meaning is intensified, i.e., a place to enter with difficulty and hardship. The meaning is that they see no way to escape, otherwise, if they could find even the worst place to go, they would break their bonds and run towards it, because the worst places to go can only be these three. {’’ يَجْمَحُوْنَ ‘‘ ’’جَمَحَالْفَرَسُ‘‘} originally means a horse breaking loose and running out of the rider’s control, i.e., they have intense hatred for the Muslims, their gatherings, and their society, but they are powerless, so to live in the Muslim society and benefit from it, they swear oaths before you that they are with you.
