And Allâh will never lead a people astray after He has guided them until He makes clear to them as to what they should avoid. Verily, Allâh is the All-Knower of everything.

Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 115) {وَمَاكَانَاللّٰهُلِيُضِلَّقَوْمًۢا …:} In this, comfort has been given to those Muslims who, before the revelation of the above verse, had prayed for forgiveness for their disbelieving relatives. The meaning is that Allah does not declare anyone misguided after he has become a Muslim until He makes it clear to him that such-and-such act is forbidden, so avoid it. If, even after that, he insists on it, then he is sinful, and as a result of his evil deeds, his direction is turned towards misguidance. It is understood that knowingly disobeying can become a cause of misguidance. If someone has not yet been forbidden from a certain act, then Allah never holds him accountable for committing it, because He knows very well whether someone is doing something out of ignorance or deliberately. Therefore, there is no reproach upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and the Companions for the forgiveness they sought for the polytheists earlier.
