Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 5 to 7) ➊ {فَلْيَنْظُرِالْاِنْسَانُمِمَّخُلِقَ … :} The protection of the human self and the supervision of deeds until an appointed time is for the Day of Reckoning. If it seems impossible for him to be resurrected, then let him reflect on his own creation—what is he created from? From a gushing fluid. When Allah, having shaped a liquid substance like water, created a complete human being, in whom all bodily organs, life, strength, intellect, and perception are present, then surely He is also capable of recreating this human from his dust in the same original form. Tell me, is it more difficult to create man from water or to recreate him from his own dust? And is it more difficult to create for the first time without a model, or to recreate upon the first model?
➋ Although semen apparently forms in the testicles, when the Creator has informed that its real origin is between the backbone and the ribs, then there remains no room for doubt in this fact. The summary of some scholars’ statements is that modern medicine has also acknowledged that the fetus’s testicles are located near the kidneys between the backbone and the ribs, then before birth—and sometimes shortly after birth—they descend into the scrotum, but even then, their nerves and veins remain at the same {’’ بَيْنِالصُّلْبِوَالتَّرَآىِٕبِ ‘‘} location, and in fact, their artery also emerges from near the backbone, from the main artery ({أَوْرَطٰي}), and passes through the entire abdomen to supply them with blood. Thus, the testicles are essentially a part of the back, which, due to their inability to withstand the higher temperature of the body, have been transferred outside into the scrotum. Now, although semen is produced in the testicles and collected in the seminal vesicle, the center that supplies blood and initiates movement is {’’ بَيْنِالصُّلْبِوَالتَّرَآىِٕبِ ‘‘} itself. When the command is sent from the brain through the nerves to this center, the seminal vesicle contracts by the stimulation of this center, and the gushing fluid is expelled like a jet. All praise is due to Allah, modern medicine has also succeeded in discovering this fact. Even if it had not reached this reality, the statement of the Qur’an would still have been an unalterable truth. The fault would have been with human experiments and observations, which, due to their limitations, could not reach the reality described by the Creator.
