Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.

(Ayah 2){ وَ اَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَ حُقَّتْ: ’’ اَذِنَتْ ‘‘} (S) To listen attentively, to listen carefully, that is, it will listen carefully and obey. In the same way, as soon as the earth hears the command, it will throw out everything that is in it. {’’ حُقَّتْ ‘‘ ’’هُوَحَقِيْقٌ بِكَذَا أَوْ مَحْقُوْقٌ بِكَذَا‘‘} is derived from this, meaning it is worthy of this thing. Its passive subject is the pronoun of {’’ السَّمَآءُ ‘‘}. Baydawi said: {’’ حُقَّتْ ‘‘ أَيْ جُعِلَتْ حَقِيْقَةً بِالْاِسْتِمَاعِ وَالْاِنْقِيَادِ۔‘‘} Zamakhshari said: {’’ وَ هِيَ حَقِيْقَةٌ بِأَنْ تَنْقَادَ وَلَا تَمْتَنِعَ۔‘‘} The earth and the heavens, upon hearing Allah's command, do not even dare to refuse obedience; it is only man who neither listens attentively to Allah's commands nor obeys.
