فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ ﴿16﴾
So I swear by the afterglow of sunset;
فَلَآ falā But nay
أُقْسِمُ uq'simu I swear
بِٱلشَّفَقِ bil-shafaqi by the twilight glow

(Ayah 16){ فَلَاۤ اُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ:} The meaning of {’’لاَ‘‘} before the oath is the negation of the statement of the deniers. {’’اَلشَّفَقُ‘‘} is the redness at the edge of the sky after sunset which remains until ‘Isha.
